Environmentalists Set Green-Market Standards: Green Seal, the Washington-based association of environmental groups that plans to give awards to consumer products it deems environmentally cutting edge, has released its first set of standards--for toilet and facial tissue. To win the group’s seal, tissue must be made of all waste paper, at least 10% of which is recycled after consumer use; contain no inks, dyes or fragrance; avoid certain toxic solvents in processing; be packaged in materials that do not contain such toxic heavy metals as cadmium, and be packed in large sizes, to minimize packaging waste.
