Countywide : Bush Rally Plans

President Bush will come to Orange County on Sunday to address a gathering of Asian- and Pacific-Americans at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. The event is free to the public, but tickets must be obtained and early arrival is urged because of crowds. Before Bush’s arrival, free entertainment will be provided by the Asian- and Pacific-American community. There will also be booths displaying the cultures of various Asian cultures.

The rally will be held at the park’s soccer field. The remainder of the park will be open as usual. Because Sunday is Father’s Day, officials expect large crowds throughout.

EVENT SITE: The walk-in entrance to the presidential area is off Edinger Avenue, near the intersection of Euclid Street. All those entering the speech area must have tickets.

FOR TICKETS: In Orange County, tickets may be picked up today from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 11 Cantera St. in Santa Ana, a new, private street near the intersection of Westminster and Euclid streets. Cantera, being new, is not shown on many street maps. Tickets will also be available Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Edinger Avenue entrance to Mile Square Park.

PARKING: Motorists can drive into the park through the Euclid Street entrance or a new entrance on Edinger Avenue. Parking costs $2 per vehicle. Limited off-street parking is available on Euclid and Edinger streets. Officials have urged people to come to the park by bus.

TIME: The soccer field opens to the public at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Because those attending will need to take the time to pass through a metal detector, people are urged to arrive in the park by 9 a.m. Bush is scheduled to arrive by helicopter in the park at noon Sunday and to speak shortly thereafter. His remarks will be brief, organizers said.
