PITCHER JENNIFER BRUNDAGE Irvine Brundage took the Vaqueros to the South Coast League and Southern Section 4-A titles. She allowed only one run in 44 playoff innings and pitched 12 shutouts during the season. She also led the team in batting with a .429 average. She was league MVP and is The Times Orange County player of the year. 1991 pitching record

PITCHER LEEANN GONZALEZ Foothill Gonzalez, a junior right-hander, pitched five no-hitters--including a perfect game--and helped the Knights advance to the Southern Section 4-A championship game. She was one of the reasons Foothill won 22 consecutive games before losing in the title game. Gonzalez was the Century League’s MVP. 1991 pitching record

PITCHER CHERYL LONGEWAY Kennedy Longeway, one of the best high school pitchers in the county the past few years and without a doubt the best left-hander, had another outstanding season. She led the county in strikeouts with 268 and had one no-hitter. The senior, who will pitch at Cal State Fullerton next year, was the Garden Grove League MVP. 1991 pitching record

PITCHER RAE RICE Fountain Valley Rice, a hard-throwing right-hander, is making her second consecutive appearance on the all-county team. A senior who was voted most valuable pitcher in the Sunset League, she helped Fountain Valley reach the semifinals of the Southern Section 5-A playoffs. CATCHER CHRISTY LUNCEFORD Trabuco Hills Lunceford was an outstanding catcher for the young Mustang pitchers and provided offensive spark. The junior, who made the All-Pacific Coast League team for the third consecutive year, threw out 19 runners. She was a bit more successful in her own attempts to steal, finishing with 21 stolen bases. 1991 batting record

FIRST BASEMAN STEPHANIE CAREW Canyon Carew, daughter of Hall of Famer Rod Carew, is one of only two sophomores on this year’s team. The left-handed hitter scored 17 runs and had four triples for the Comanches. She also provided a steady glove at first base, committing only four errors. INFIELDER MICHELLE CASH Garden Grove Cash, who will play at the University of New Mexico next season, was the catalyst for the Garden Grove League champions. With her solid play at shortstop, Cash helped the Argonauts beat Kennedy, the league favorite, twice. She scored 21 runs and stole 12 bases. INFIELDER SARA MALLETT La Habra Mallett, the best hitter this season for the Freeway League champion Highlanders, led the team in practically every offensive category. She scored 24 runs and had three triples, and her 18 stolen bases were second on the team to Cathy Turner’s 21. A junior second baseman, she was the league’s MVP. 1991 batting record

INFIELDER KATHY SHORTALL Foothill Shortall, a senior, offered the Knights a sure-handed shortstop and a reliable bat all year. The All-Century League selection had a .671 slugging average and committed only five errors. She led Foothill in several categories, including homers (5) and runs batted in (24). OUTFIELDER LISA DACQUISTO Ocean View She and Carew are the sophomores on this year’s team. The speedy Dacquisto, a left-handed leadoff batter, would have been perfect for those TV commercials with the perspiring catcher in need of antacid tablets--she stole 22 bases. OUTFIELDER SENETHA THOMAS Canyon Thomas is back for her second consecutive appearance on the all-county team. A power-hitting senior, she established career school records in home runs (15) and RBIs (68). Her home run total this season (nine) was the county’s best. She also scored 25 runs. OUTFIELDER KELLY WARD Sunny Hills Ward, one of the fastest players in the county, contributed heavily in the Lancers’ march to the quarterfinals of the section 4-A playoffs. She complemented her .446 batting average with 26 stolen bases, second-best in the county. Ward, who committed only one error, was chosen to the All-Freeway League team. 1991 batting record

UTILITY SHELLY FULLER Westminster Fuller was the Sunset League’s most valuable player despite playing on a team that finished tied for fourth place in the final standings. She led the county in RBIs (36) and tied for second in home runs (five). Fuller, a senior, also scored 19 runs and had a .738 slugging average. 1991 batting record

DESIGNATED HITTER TAMMY LOHMANN Katella Lohmann, a junior shortstop, led the county in hitting during the regular season with a .541 average and was the stabilizing force in the Knight infield. The Empire League’s most valuable player, she is making her second consecutive appearance on the all-county team. Katella made it to the Section 5-A semifinals. 1991 batting record
