A 37-year-old woman was in serious condition Tuesday after her Jeep struck three cars stopped at a traffic light, injuring one of the drivers, authorities said. Police later arrested the woman on suspicion of drunk driving.
Bonnie Dirks of Huntington Beach and Jodi Kaye, 22, of Westminster were airlifted to UCI Medical Center in Orange after the crash at Bolsa Avenue and Bolsa Chica Street, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Jack Reinholtz said.
Police did not identify the others involved in the crash.
Dirks was in serious condition and Kaye was in stable condition Tuesday night, a hospital official said.
Police said Dirks was heading north on Bolsa Chica Street when she struck three cars stopped at a traffic light. Her Jeep then overturned, and Dirks was pinned behind the wheel, Reinholtz said.
Dirks was arrested at the hospital on charges of drunk driving and was released from custody on a citation, Reinholtz said.
