FILLMORE : City Chooses Park Over Youth Club
Fillmore will use $85,000 of its federal community development money for parkland instead of a Boys & Girls Club that the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department has been trying to organize for more than a year, the City Council decided Tuesday.
The council accepted a recommendation by city staff that the funds be set aside to purchase land for another park.
Earlier this year, the $85,000 was earmarked for a storm drain on Third Street in north Fillmore. The possibility of using the funds for a park or a Boys & Girls Club was raised at a May 28 meeting.
