The Wedtech Corp. defendant whose discredited testimony as a government witness prompted a federal appeals court to throw out convictions of three other defendants was sentenced to up to six years in prison for perjury. “I beg you for leniency. I beg you to sentence me in accordance with the sentencing agreement,” said Anthony Guariglia, 39, the former president of the defunct Bronx military contractor. Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Alfred Kleiman expressed displeasure at Guariglia’s plea bargain but stuck to its terms, sentencing him to two to six years for the state portion of his case. Wedtech began as a small machine shop and grew under Guariglia’s stewardship into a multimillion-dollar defense contractor by bribing influential officials.
