Lockheed Corp. said Gerald T. Oppliger was elected president of its Lockheed Space Operations Co. unit and a vice president of the parent company. He succeeds E. Douglas Sargent, who is retiring Aug. 1.
Oppliger, 54, is a 29-year veteran of Calabasas-based Lockheed, and most recently was executive vice president of the space operations group. The unit is involved in the preparation, landing and turnaround needs of the nation’s space shuttle fleet.
