Injured Teen-Age Girl Is Airlifted From Canyon
A 17-year-old girl was injured Thursday when she fell off a makeshift swing set up in a Porter Ranch canyon.
The girl, whose name and hometown were not released, received minor injuries. She was airlifted from the accident scene near Tampa and Wilbur avenues at about 5:25 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Pat Marek.
The girl was swinging on an old fire hose that was set up as a swing in rugged Limekiln Canyon when the hose broke. She fell about six feet into the creek bed, Marek said.
She may have sprained or broken her wrist and ankle, he said.
“Because the terrain was so rugged the only way to remove her was using a helicopter†to hoist her out, Marek said.
