Philips Electronics NV said it will launch a range of high-definition television sets in early 1994, bringing cinema-quality systems to consumers more than a year ahead of schedule. The Dutch electronics giant also said it was ready to sign an agreement brokered by the European Commission, the European Community’s executive arm, which lays out a strategy for introducing HDTV in Europe.
