Charter Oak Names Superintendent

Susan J. Rainey was appointed superintendent of the 5,600-student Charter Oak Unified School District on Tuesday.
Rainey, 44, will take office July 1 at a starting salary of $88,000. She will succeed Michael Caston, who has been named superintendent of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.
Rainey is currently associate superintendent of the Hemet Unified School District. She has a doctorate in educational administration from USC and a master’s in history from the University of Redlands.
Charter Oak Unified serves students in Covina and parts of Glendora and San Dimas.
