Fluor Still Leader of Pack: For the fourth consecutive year, Fluor Daniel Inc. has been ranked No. 1 in terms of contract value among U.S.-based engineering and construction companies by a leading trade journal. Engineering News-Record magazine’s 1990 rankings had Fluor Daniel on top with $18 billion in sales, followed by M. W. Kellogg Co. of Houston ($12.9 billion), San Francisco-based Bechtel Group Inc. ($12 billion) and Parsons Corp. in Pasadena ($11.7 billion). Fluor Daniel, the Fluor Corp.’s principal subsidiary, has topped the rankings since 1986, when it knocked Bechtel down a rung. This is the first year since that Bechtel has fallen below No. 2.
