Playing Kelly Hrudey Was Correct Choice
This letter is in response to Daniel Shugar’s letter (Viewpoint, May 4) in which he challenges Tom Webster’s decision to start Kelly Hrudey in Game 4 against Edmonton. If you know anything about hockey, you know that you stay with the hot goaltender at that time. Daniel Berthiaume was shaky the final two weeks of the season while Hrudey was extremely sharp. Splitting the duty during the year assured whichever goalie started in the playoffs would be fresh throughout. Hrudey performed superbly throughout the playoffs, and his play is not the reason the Kings lost.
