Joan M. Edwards, who trained animals for motion pictures, television shows and commercials, has died at a Granada Hills hospital. She was 63.
A longtime Lake View Terrace resident, Miss Edwards died Thursday of heart failure, said her friend and business associate, Stevie Myers.
Born in Los Angeles, she graduated from Hoover High School in Glendale. Miss Edwards, who had horses as a child, was a partner with Myers & Wills Motion Picture Livestock & Equipment in Lake View Terrace from 1959 to 1979, and later served as an adviser. The company mainly trained horses, but also trained a bull that was used in commercials for Merrill Lynch & Co., Myers said.
Miss Edwards is survived by two sisters.
Visitation is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kiefer & Eyerick Mortuary, 314 E. Harvard St., Glendale, which is handling the arrangements.
A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, with burial to follow at Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale.
Donations can be made in Miss Edwards’ name to the American Heart Assn.
