Opponents of a sales-tax increase to pay for a new county jail are advertising in Penny Saver magazine, hoping to hit the county’s bargain-hunters with their anti-tax message. . . . Supporters of the tax measure, on next Tuesday’s ballot, say they hope a big absentee-ballot vote will favor them. Tax supporters reported raising $163,160 in the most recent campaign statements; anti-tax types reported raising only $11,045.
