VENTURA : Accident Victims Still Hospitalized
Two Ventura residents were still hospitalized Wednesday after separate traffic accidents, authorities said.
Tiffany Ann Dixon, 8, was injured at 2:22 p.m. Tuesday as she was crossing Prospect and Olive streets, police said. Jose Avila, 18, of Oxnard was driving south on Olive Street when his car struck her, police said.
Tiffany was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition on Wednesday, hospital spokeswoman Darla Lowery said.
Police said another car trying to make a right turn onto Olive Street may have blocked Avila’s view. There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement, police said.
At 9:08 p.m. Tuesday, Jonathan Engstrom was riding his bicycle on the shoulder of Foothill Road west of Walnut Drive when he was hit by a car, police said. Engstrom was thrown to the ground, and the vehicle drove away, police said.
Engstrom, 20, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and was in fair condition Wednesday, Lowery said.
Police were still searching for the driver.
