COUNTYWIDE : College District Chief to Be Paid $112,500

Thomas Lakin, the new chancellor of the Ventura County Community College District, will be paid $112,500 a year under the terms of a contract released Tuesday night.
Lakin, 47, president of Los Angeles Southwest Community College, was appointed last month by the district’s board of trustees to replace retiring Chancellor Barbara Derryberry. At that time, the trustees and Lakin had not worked out the details of his contract.
Derryberry, who earned $112,000 a year as chancellor, will leave the position July 1.
