Charles F. Jones; Former President of Humble Oil
Charles F. Jones, 79, a former president and vice chairman of Humble Oil & Refining Co., the forerunner of Exxon Co. USA. Jones was president of Humble from 1964 until 1970, then vice chairman until 1972, when he retired. He later became dean of the college of business administration at the University of Houston and worked as a management consultant. He was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and served on the boards of several companies. Jones also was chairman of the Houston Symphony Society and vice chairman of the Houston Bicentennial Commission, president of the board of the Houston Public Library and a board member of the National Science Foundation. On Tuesday in Houston of unreported causes.
