20 Injured When Deck of Hillside House Breaks

About 20 people were injured Friday when part of a hillside deck broke under the weight of people at a house party in Eagle Rock, authorities said.
Los Angeles police were trying to clear as many as 500 people from the house and back yard on the 2600 block of Range Road shortly after 10 p.m. when the railing of a wooden deck collapsed, causing 20 people to tumble 30 feet down the hillside, police said.
Several others may also have fallen off the deck, police said. Three people were seriously injuries and the other received “scratches and bruises” police said.
Neighbors had called complaining about the party’s noise, police said, adding that a gathering as large as that at the house requires a permit and that one had not been sought by the party’s host.
