Yates’ Ninth Homer Helps Chapman Beat Grand Canyon, 7-3
ORANGE — Doug Yates hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning Monday as Chapman defeated Grand Canyon College, 7-3, in a nonconference baseball game at Hart Park in Orange.
Yates’ home run put Chapman (13-31) ahead, 7-3. Yates, who leads the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. with nine home runs, had two of the Panthers’ five hits.
Jon Graves (1-7) pitched nine innings for his first victory.
