THOUSAND OAKS : Children’s Parade, Cook-Off Is Today
Organizers of the Conejo Valley Days festival today will hold a parade to select the most festive children’s float and a competition to find the spiciest chili and the best of the bearded.
The Children’s Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at Duesenberg Drive and continue along Thousand Oaks Boulevard, ending at Auburn Court.
Trophies will be awarded at 11 a.m. on a stage on Auburn Court near the Nesen auto dealership.
The 300-entry parade will be led by “Tiny Tot†King Erik Botha, 4, and Queen Breeanna Faith Mierop, 5, parade chairwoman Gena Galindo said.
The 16th annual Chili Cook-Off will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Conejo Creek Park, just east of the Moorpark Freeway near Janss Road.
Later, judges will decide on the best facial hair at the annual Whiskeroo Contest. The 1 p.m. contest will also be at Conejo Creek Park.
The Conejo Valley Days carnival will run from Wednesday, April 24, through Sunday, April 28.
