BBC Launches Service: The British Broadcasting Corp.’s World Service Television, a satellite subscription channel providing news and showcasing some of the BBCs best TV entertainment programs, began broadcasting Monday to Europe. A daily half-hour international news roundup is the centerpiece of the news programing. Documentaries and dramas from BBC1 and BBC2 channels in Britain also will be aired. Officials hope to have the service available to every continent by 1993. Many programs will have subtitles in English.
