Todd Marinovich, the former USC quarterback who last January was charged with possession of less than half a gram of cocaine, received permission from Orange County Harbor Municipal Court to attend a diversion program designed for first-time offenders.

Marinovich will continue in a twice-weekly drug-counseling program in Laguna Beach for a year, said Gary Pohlson, his attorney. If he completes the program, misdemeanor possession charges will be dismissed.
