SANTA ANA : Fines Overlooked on Overdue Books
Got a long-overdue book collecting dust, but too embarrassed to return it to the Rancho Santiago College library?
Librarians there have declared amnesty for such scofflaws from April 15 through 20.
No fines will be assessed on any returned books, magazines or other materials checked out from the founding of the college in 1915 through Aug. 17, 1990.
Library technician Linda Dressler said the library is hoping to get back all books checked out before August, when the facility switched to a computerized coding system.
Dressler said anyone with overdue materials checked out after that date will have to pay the maximum fine: $5.
