State OKs Biotech Pesticide: The California Department of Food and Agriculture has granted approval for Ecogen Inc. of Laghorne, Pa., to market Cutlass, the first genetically altered natural pesticide OKd for use in the state. Cutlass fights caterpillars on vegetables, which constitute a large part of the California agricultural economy.
