POP ALBUM CHART : Wilson Phillips Still Hot After a Year

The pop-vocal trio Wilson Phillips celebrates its one-year anniversary on the Billboard magazine pop album chart with its debut album, “Wilson Phillips,” inching up a notch to No. 3. Thanks to a string of hit singles that have kept fan interest at a high level, the album has sold more than 4 million copies. The latest single is “You’re in Love,” No. 3 on the pop singles chart. R.E.M’s “Out of Time,” No. 16 after two weeks, is the fastest rising album. Other rapid risers, both movie soundtracks: “The Doors” (No. 11) and “New Jack City” (No. 40). Gloria Estefan’s “Coming Out of the Dark” is still the No. 1 pop single.
* Pop/gospel singer Amy Grant’s audience continues to grow. Her new album, “Heart in Motion,” could be her biggest yet. After three weeks on the chart, it’s No. 43.
