The ‘Rebel’s Verse’ Is Sweet Music Indeed
- Share via
It was indeed a pleasure to see Jim Morrison finally get the recognition he deserves from the people who know what poetry is all about (“A Rebel’s Verse,” March 10). Our sincerest thanks to Pat Broeske for her article. It made 16 years of meticulous and heart-rending work worthwhile.
For the record, Jim graduated from UCLA--Bachelor of Arts degree, College of Fine Arts, major in theater arts--on Aug. 13, 1965. We have his transcript.
For the record, No. 2: Jim was his own editor for “Wilderness” and “The American Night.” We entered all versions of each of his poems into the computer and selected the latest version of each poem--not a perfect system, but the one we thought best. We would have been extremely presumptuous to feel that we or anyone else could do better. This was clearly stated in both books.
