Aware of the rift between artists demanding freedom and Christians demanding purity, I applaud Jones’ honest struggle with faith through his art form.
The NEA funding debate has made it too easy for certain artists to be pigeonholed as pornographers and certain Christians as blunt, misdirected moralists.
Jones’ willingness to engage us in his struggle beats politically mediated polemics any day.
