ROUNDUP : Surface Pitches Perfect Game as Pacifica Beats La Quinta

Jennifer Surface pitched a perfect game as Pacifica defeated La Quinta, 2-0, in a Garden Grove League softball game Thursday at La Quinta.
Surface (5-1), a junior, struck out seven. It was her second no-hitter this season and the third perfect game of her career.
Pacifica second baseman Cindy Stocklein had five assists and third baseman Leslie Mascarenas had five assists, including a diving stop in the fifth.
In other Garden Grove League softball:
Kennedy 1, Rancho Alamitos 0--Danielle McLeod had two hits and scored the only run and Cheryl Longeway (5-1) pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Kennedy (5-1, 2-0 in league).
Garden Grove 11, Santiago 0--Right-hander Kim Taylor (5-2) allowed only three hits and struck out eight for visiting Garden Grove (5-3, 1-0 in league).
In nonleague softball:
University 1-1, Trabuco Hills 0-5--Left-hander Michelle Ponce (4-0) threw a two-hitter and struck out seven for University (8-2) in the first game of the doubleheader at Heritage Park in Irvine. Right-hander Brianna Burkman sparked Trabuco Hills in the nightcap, striking out eight.
Newport Harbor 4, Long Beach Wilson 2--Ali Barry’s RBI double in the fifth inning gave host Newport Harbor (7-1) the lead for good, 3-2.
Foothill 3, Brea-Olinda 2 (10 innings)--Amy Tessman had an RBI double in the 10th for visiting Foothill (3-2). Kathy Shortall (1-0) pitched 10 innings for the victory and had a two-run single in the sixth.
Fullerton 2, Magnolia 0--Cathleen Kennedy pitched a no-hitter, struck out 15 and walked one for host Fullerton (6-5-1).
Los Alamitos 1, Millikan 0--Kandi Rehard (3-0) pitched a one-hitter and Caroline Dolan scored the game’s only run for host Los Alamitos (6-1).
In the Canyon Tournament:
El Toro 6, Edison 0--Freshman Misty Lauby pitched a no-hitter for El Toro (4-6). Lauby (4-3) struck out eight and walked one for her first no-hitter.
In Angelus League golf:
Servite 189, St. John Bosco 193--Garrett Moran shot a two-over-par 35 for Servite (7-0, 2-0) at Fullerton golf course.
In Empire League golf:
El Dorado 221, Cypress 237--Erik Wolf shot a four-over-par 39 for El Dorado (5-1, 1-0) at Western Hills.
In Orange League golf:
Valencia 202, Magnolia 260--Cody Neptune shot a one-over-par 36 for Valencia (3-2, 2-0) at Dad Miller.
In South Coast League golf:
Dana Hills 201, Mission Viejo 275--Scott Richardson shot a one-under-par 35 for Dana Hills (4-1, 4-0) at El Niguel.
In nonleague golf:
Marina 193, Newport Harbor 204--Dan Dalton and Brian Rea each shot a one-over-par 36 at Meadowlark for Marina.
Huntington Beach 199, Sunny Hills 209--Mike Hobson, Trent Fenzl and Chris Chittick of Huntington Beach and Albert Oh of Sunny Hills each shot a three-over 39 at SeaCliff.
In Empire League tennis:
Esperanza 10, Los Alamitos 8--Mike Hammer, Esperanza’s No. 1 singles player, swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, at Esperanza (9-0, 1-0).
In Freeway League tennis:
Fullerton 16, La Habra 2--Chris Hartshorn swept, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, to lead host Fullerton.
In Sea View League tennis:
Saddleback 11, Newport Harbor 7--Hieu Nguyen and Hao Phung won, 6-4, 7-1, 6-4, in doubles for visiting Saddleback (6-0, 2-0).
In Sunset League tennis:
Fountain Valley 15, Edison 3--Eddie Wriss swept at love for host Fountain Valley. Mike Cadilli and Mike Moenter swept, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, in doubles for Fountain Valley (9-1, 4-0).
