McCall Flurry Gives Bakersfield Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Greg McCall scored all eight of his points in the last 50 seconds to lead Cal State Bakersfield past No. 5 Southwest Baptist, 55-52, in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II basketball tournament Thursday.
With Southwest Baptist (29-3) leading, 50-45, McCall made a layup and completed a three-point play, then put the Roadrunners (25-7) ahead, 51-50, with a three-point basket. Fred Eckles stole the ball with 12 seconds left and made two free throws, increasing the lead to 53-50. McCall put it out of reach with two free throws.
Bakersfield will meet Bridgeport today in the semifinals.
