PREP ROUNDUP : Doubles Victory Lifts La Quinta

Hien Ngo and Khanh Ha won the deciding doubles match as La Quinta defeated Mission Viejo, 10-8, in a nonleague tennis match Wednesday at La Quinta.
Ngo and Ha won, 7-6, after trailing, 5-3. In singles, Phillip Lim won two of three matches, winning, 6-2, 6-1, and losing, 6-7, for host La Quinta (7-1).
In other nonleague boys’ tennis:
Servite 13, Brea-Olinda 5--Eric Gonda swept, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, and the doubles team of John Neri and Edger Padilla swept, 6-0, 6-3, 6-1, for Servite (7-1).
Huntington Beach 9, Los Alamitos 9 (Huntington Beach wins on games, 66-62)--Bach Nguyen swept, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, and Tony Newton swept, 6-0, 6-1, 6-1, for host Huntington Beach (8-2).
In Canyon tournament softball:
St. Paul 1, Foothill 0--Kristy Fuentes pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight for St. Paul (7-0) in pool play. Leann Gonzales (2-2) pitched a three-hitter, struck out three and walked two for Foothill.
