Malashock Troupe to Perform in Carlsbad

Malashock Dance & Company will present a contemporary dance program at 8 p.m. Saturday at Carlsbad Community Cultural Arts Center. The program will feature three of artistic director John Malashock’s most recent works.
“Stan’s Retreat” takes its inspiration from the writing of novelist Carson McCullers and is performed to an original commissioned score by composer Mark Attebery. “Take This Waltz” portrays a suite of dance songs set to the sultry music and vocals of Leonard Cohen. Completing the program is Malashock’s electric “Up in Flames” set to the music of Jimi Hendrix.
The program is presented in association with the Patrons of the Arts Foundation.
