Temple City : Home Fortune-Teller OKd

Temple City’s first home-based fortune-telling business has received reluctant City Council approval, but it might take supernatural powers to find the place.

The council on Tuesday unanimously approved the business in the 9000 block of East Hermosa Drive, but imposed strict conditions prohibiting any business sign on the house and outlawing any advertising except in telephone book Yellow Pages.

Associate Planner Corrie Kates said the city has other fortune-telling businesses, but none in a residential neighborhood. Mayor Thomas Breazeal said he was unhappy about approving the request, but said there is “no grounds to deny.”
