HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Kovar Ties Record With 16 Strikeouts
Jana Kovar tied a school single-game record Friday by recording 16 strikeouts in leading Village Christian High to a 7-0 victory over Oak Park in a nonleague girls’ softball game at Village Christian.
Kovar (2-1) allowed two hits and walked one and also had two doubles and drove in two runs for Village Christian (2-1).
In other softball games:
Calabasas 18, Santa Clara 5--Shelley Pack recorded six strikeouts and was three for four with two runs batted in for Calabasas (3-0, 1-0 in league play) in a Frontier League game at Santa Clara.
Calabasas’ Kristy Thompson finished with two hits--including a three-run homer--and six RBIs, and Suzie Spitz was three for five with four RBIs and a two-run homer.
Moorpark 8, Flintridge Prep 5--Soli Barrera and Courtney Forman each had two-run singles in a six-run fifth for Moorpark (4-0) in a home nonleague game. Korri Martin (3-0) earned the victory.
VOLLEYBALL
Royal d. Thousand Oaks, 15-0, 15-3, 15-5--Kevin Hambly had nine kills and Travis Ferguson had 13 service points and 31 assists for host Royal (3-1, 2-0) in a Marmonte League match.
