Garden Grove : Donations Sought for Victims of Fire
The Chamber of Commerce and the Crystal Cathedral’s Helping Hands Ministry are collecting donations for a family that lost a child in an apartment fire last week.
Toni Jones, 36, lost her 3-year-old son Aaron after a space heater placed too close to a mattress ignited a blaze that destroyed the apartment. Other fire victims in the community have offered support for her family, including one man who lost his 4-year-old son in a similar blaze.
Joseph de la Riva, whose son was killed in a Tustin apartment fire last year, made a televised appeal on behalf of the Jones family Friday.
The fund was started by resident Frank Kazerski, who lost his own apartment in a 1989 fire. “The immediate goal of the . . . campaign is to help the family financially. The drive (will run until) March 29 when the chamber will (present) a check of all the proceeds†to Jones, he said. “(The Jones family is) very grateful that the community wants to get involved.â€
Donations may be sent to the Jones Family Memorial Fund, care of the chamber at 11400 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove, Calif. 92640. Tax-deductible contributions may be sent to Helping Hands Ministry/Jones Family Fund at 2210 Dupont Drive, Anaheim, Calif. 92805.
