Apple Computer’s Key Executives Shift Focus
Apple Computer’s top executives have shifted focus, with Chairman John A. Sculley now working on long-term directions, a spokeswoman said Friday. Chief Operating Officer Michael Spindler will take over more day-to-day operations from Sculley, the spokeswoman said.
“Sculley has put himself in the role of working on breakthrough technology for the future,†Apple spokeswoman Brooke Cohan said. “He will be responsible for identifying, growing and developing opportunities in new business areas and new technologies.â€
Cohan declined to provide specifics on the projects Sculley is pursuing, but said Apple expects them to involve the Macintosh PC. Industry analysts regard the Mac, with its high-quality graphics and easy-to-use format, as a breakthrough in personal computing.
