Feed Needy at Club Site

The article, “Indoor Site Sought to Feed Needy” (Times, Feb. 14), indicates that Santa Monica is looking for a new site to feed the homeless to replace the City Hall lawn.
It seems the City Council members can’t see the forest through the trees. The perfect site is in their own back yard, the former Sand and Sea Club.
The facility has showers, a restaurant with cooking facilities, and adequate space for counseling and job placement services. It is also closer to Palisades Park and downtown than Memorial Park.
The Pico neighborhood already has feeding programs at the Clare Foundation and the Salvation Army. It is time for other neighborhoods in the city to shoulder some of the burden.
