After One Season, Hofman Leaving Titan Basketball

FULLERTON — Bob Hofman, who spent one season as an assistant to Cal State Fullerton basketball Coach John Sneed, said Saturday he has resigned for personal reasons.

“It has nothing to do with basketball,” said Hofman, previously the head coach at Eastern Washington for three years. “It’s family reasons and other things. It’s been a valuable year here. I appreciate the opportunity I had.”

Hofman, 40, took Eastern Washington to within a last-second shot of last year’s NCAA Tournament. The Eagles, who had finished second in the regular-season, Big Sky Conference standings, lost to Idaho, 65-62, in the conference tournament final.

Hofman, a former University of Colorado guard, was a high school coach in Colorado for seven years (1974-81), a Colorado assistant for two years (1981-83) and coach at Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Colo., for four years (1983-87).

Hofman, who played football and basketball at Pasadena High School, said he will pursue other coaching positions.

“This time of year, so many things can happen,” Hofman said. “We’ll see what develops.”
