Brett Hull found the open spaces on the ice and scored three goals, but the Bruins found the effort they had been missing and were happy to tie the St. Louis Blues, 5-5, Thursday night at Boston.

Hull’s third goal of the game and 75th of the season put St. Louis ahead, 5-4, but Nevin Markwart’s second goal of the season with 5:56 left in the third period gave Boston the tie.

“It was a good tie for us,†said Coach Mike Milbury, whose Bruins were 2-4 in their previous six games. “I’m pleased with the effort, which was the most important thing going into the game after what happened to us in Toronto Tuesday night.â€
