Five Sacramento businessmen have submitted an application to bring an NFL expansion team to the capital, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The paper said former San Francisco 49er coach Bill Walsh has expressed interest in part ownership, lining up investors and serving as managing partner.

Involved in the bid are Fred Anderson, owner of the Sacramento Surge of the World League of American Football; real estate developer Angelo Tsakopoulos, former NFL player and Sacramento lawyer Eddie LeBaron, and real estate brokers Arlen Opper and George Christopulos.
