Driver Says He Hit Wrong Pedal in Airport Accident

An alleged drunk driver said he mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake when he plowed into a crowded terminal at Los Angeles International Airport, injuring seven people, police said Monday.
Leroy Wilson, 68, of Los Angeles was booked for investigation of felony drunk driving and was being held in lieu of $45,000 bail, said Officer Ed Masline. A breath test showed Wilson’s blood alcohol level was as high as .21%, Masline said. The legal limit is .08%.
Wilson’s car careened through a set of doors and into the United Airlines terminal at 5 p.m. Sunday, knocking aside passengers and scattering luggage. The car bounced off a wooden planter and cruised down a concourse before crashing into a wall. Wilson had just dropped off a passenger at another terminal when the incident occurred, Masline said.
