MOORPARK : Man Stabbed Trying to Stop Beer Thieves
A 22-year-old Los Angeles man was stabbed in Moorpark early Sunday after he tried to stop two men from robbing a store of four cases of beer, police said.
Mike Issam was visiting the Circle K Market in the 200 block of West Los Angeles Avenue about 1 a.m. when the two left the store without paying, Lt. Bill Montijo said. Clerk Carl Jaafar of Moorpark called police and asked Issam and his friends in the store to stop the men, Montijo said.
Issam and several others restrained one of the men while the other one returned with a knife and a small group of friends, Montijo said. A fight broke out in the parking lot, and Issam was slashed above the left eye, he said.
He was taken to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
