NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Noriega Aided Drug Passage, Court Told

A convicted drug smuggler testified that another accused drug dealer used to boast that Manuel A. Noriega guaranteed safe passage of a cocaine-laden yacht through Panamanian waters. William Saldarriaga, 46, is on trial on cocaine trafficking and conspiracy charges. He was indicted with former Panama strongman Noriega in 1988. Testifying was Gabriel Taboada, 34, a Colombian who is serving an eight-year sentence in Miami for drug smuggling.
