More camp-outs spotted!
William Lyon Co. says it has a group waiting for sales to open this weekend at its Sands development on the Robinson Ranch, while Fieldstone Co. says 20 campers are waiting for 32 units that will go on sale at a pair of new developments in Rancho Santa Margarita opening this weekend.
And why would people camp out when there are more units than buyers?
Well, it is not like the old days, when fear of losing out was the prime motivator. What campers are looking for in today’s market is a good price or a chance at a particular floor plan, or a lot with a special view, builders say.
Fieldstone, which ultimately will open nine new projects in Rancho Santa Margarita in a large development called the Vistas, says that more than 3,500 people have visited the model homes at the first two projects since they were opened to the public 13 days ago. Prices range from $207,990 to $241,990.
