Two subsidiaries of American companies were the targets of firebombs Wednesday, and police said they believe the attacks were to protest the U.S. role in the Persian Gulf War.

Police said no one claimed responsibility.

The first attack came about 3:15 a.m. when a firebomb was thrown through a window at an IBM office. No one was injured.

About 10 minutes later, a Coca-Cola truck at a local bottling subsidiary was firebombed, police said. No one was injured.
