Nation IN BRIEF : ARIZONA : Legislator Pleads Guilty in Bribe Case
Arizona state Rep. Bobby Raymond pleaded guilty to five felony counts arising from a political corruption sting and resigned from the House. Raymond had been caught on tape saying that “my favorite line is: ‘What’s in it for me?’ †He had been indicted on 14 felony counts accusing him of accepting $12,105 in bribes and helping bribe three other legislators. Sentencing was postponed for 60 days and the judge indicated the maximum term would be 14 years. The sting involved offering legislators money to support casino gambling legislation. Sixteen other persons face charges in the case.
