World IN BRIEF : ALBANIA : End to School’s Fast Over Name Sought

Albania’s ruling Communists appealed for an end to the two-day fast by about 720 students and faculty members who demand that former dictator Enver Hoxha’s name be removed from Enver Hoxha University in Tirana, the capital. The appeal followed a rally by thousands of people in support of the hunger strikers. The Communists, in a communique, asked the strikers “to give up the unjust political demands and the unjust way of” promoting them, the official news agency ATA reported.
