Luis Escobar; Director
Luis Escobar Kirkpatrick, veteran Spanish director and actor, died in Madrid on Saturday of a heart attack. He was 78.
Escobar, who was also the Marquis de Marismas, founded the National Theater in 1938 and continued to head the renamed Maria Guerrero Theater after the end of the 1936-39 Spanish Civil War. He also worked as a director in Paris, Milan, Brussels and several Latin American capitals.
