Thieves Use Keys to Steal Up to $600,000 From Bank

NEW YORK — Bandits used keys Saturday to open cash machines and stole as much as $600,000 from a Chemical Bank branch in Manhattan, police said.
The theft was discovered when Wells Fargo security officers, reponding to an alarm, arrived at the bank to find the money missing, police said.
“Unknown men used keys to get into the rear of 24-hour cash machines and removed between $500,000 and $600,000 in cash,†police said. The number of people involved was not known.
