Arab Viewpoint of Gulf War

If the column by Khouri intended to let us know about the Arab mind, he has presented an ugly picture that he may not have intended.
He claimed that most Arabs did not support Saddam Hussein’s “occupation of Kuwait” but they still consider him a hero. He stood up to the U.S. and rocketed Israeli cities. Thus all is forgiven. Gassing his Kurdish population, forgiven. Attacking Iran and causing a million casualties. He is a hero. This is a double standard the Arabs apply, according to Khouri.
No wonder they hate the Israelis. Not only did they not die and flee like the Kurds, but they fought back when attacked and biggest insult of all, they won.
Reading between the lines, we can see that whatever a non-Arab will do, he will be the enemy. I hope responsible people in his camp will counteract his debasement of our concepts of fairness and democracy.
