Other City Eastern League games:
Patrick Henry 46, Point Loma 27--The Patriots’ defense was too much for the Pointers, whose leading scorer had just six points. John Pike had a game-high 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocked shots for Patrick Henry (7-14, 1-4). Point Loma fell to 4-17, 1-5.
City Harbor League
Clairemont 92, Coronado 81--Islanders center Chris Anselmo had a career-high 46 points after scoring only two in the first quarter and Adam Smith added 23, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Chieftains, who led comfortably the entire game. Alex Love had 36 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists for Clairemont (8-10, 4-2). Coronado fell to 5-16, 1-5.
St. Augustine 72, Christian 58--St. Augustine (11-10, 3-3) handed Christian (15-6, 4-1) it’s first league loss. Christian’s Dave Piester led all scorers with 22 points. Both Piester and Chad DeGrunier, who had 16 points, had eight rebounds each.
City Central League
Madison 43, Crawford 38--Crawford led 11-0 and 15-5 at the end of the first quarter but scored just 23 points the rest of the game and fell to 3-18, 1-5. Madison (11-9, 3-3) got 10 points from Jamar Harrison and nine points and 11 rebounds from Jermaine Spicer.
Lincoln 85, Hoover 63--In addition to his 22 points, Berry Randle grabbed 16 rebounds and made six steals for No. 5 Lincoln (15-8, 6-0). Hosa Baker led the Hornets with 30 points and Steve Edens added 11 rebounds to his six points. Hoover, which was led bu Tony Maxell with 17 points, dropped to 11-7, 3-2.
City Western League
University City 59, La Jolla 57--The Centurions trailed by 14 points in the first half but came back to outscore the Vikings, 36-21, in the second half. Elliott Alexander led UC (10-7, 3-2) with 18 points. Craig Woodall had 18 for La Jolla (1-17, 1-4).
Kearny 63, Mission Bay 41--Mike Oviedo scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds No. 3 Kearny (17-5, 4-1). Chris Smith led Mission Bay (4-15, 1-5) in rebounding with 12.
Grossmont 3-A League
Helix 76, Granite Hills 46--First-place Helix (16-5, 6-0) got 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots from Jason Falconer in picking up its 11th victory in its past 12 games. Lloyd Lake added nine points and eight rebounds. Granite Hills fell to 4-18, 0-6.
El Capitan 63, Mt. Miguel 46--El Capitan (8-12, 2-4) held Domingo Rivera, who has been averaging 19 points a game, to 13, to upset Mt. Miguel (13-8, 2-3). Chris Peace led El Capitan with 22 points.
Grossmont 2-A League
El Cajon Valley 83, West Hills 55--The Wolf Pack (1-15, 0-5) trailed 24-0 when they first scored with six minutes remaining in the first half. El Cajon Valley (7-14, 3-3) had three players in double-figures for rebounding, Gary Moffett (16), Chris Tippett (13) and Robin Hodgekinson (10).
Santana 73, Grossmont 65--Santana (5-14, 2-4) came back from a 10-point halftime deficit (42-32) to outscore and upset Grossmont 23-7 in the final quarter. Santana’s Chad Barry led all scorers with 31 points. Grossmont is now 14-7, 4-2.
Coastal League
LJCD 61, Bishop’s 55--LJCD broke a 50-50 tie at and outscored Bishop’s, 11-5, in the fourth quarter. Jason Boyle and Larry Cheng led the Torres (16-4, 8-1) with 14 points each. Matt Hansch had 14 for Bishop’s (15-5, 6-2).
Citrus League
Lutheran 54, Midway 49--Dave Hooper had six steals and eight assists in addition to his 16 points for Lutheran (5-1). Paul Selke (13) and Steve Schell (11) led Lutheran in rebounding. Brian Hendry led Midway (2-5) with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
